There’s a new business on the Parker Strip but the
face is real familiar. Rich Ferber has recently opened Parker Strip
Rentals for all your water sporting needs. Rich came to the river in 1978
after a successful career as a sales representative for an L.A. clothing
line. It’s true! Can you imagine Rich in a suit? He was the
builder/operator of the waterslides at Holiday Harbor until 1985 when they
had to be dismantled due to the flooding of 83-84. With the help of only
John Drum, Rich dismantled the slides. In 1986, Rich built from scratch,
the first wench controlled parasail boat to operate west of the
Mississippi. The only other such vessel was located in Ft Lauderdale, FL.
Rich has operated River Parasail and charter boat services ever since. He
is the only licensed Captain operating a business on the Parker Strip.
He has teamed up with Erin Darling and Jim Meckley to provide the service and equipment you’ll need to have the best experience on the Colorado River. Whether it’s a ski boat, pontoon, houseboat, canoe or kayak, you’ll be assured that it will be in the best condition and ready to rock the river. They also rent anything you can tow behind a boat that includes skis, tubes, wakeboards and the famous 5-man water weenie! For your safety, life jackets, flags and ropes are provided. In the office where you’ll sign up for rentals there is a retail store providing you with wetsuits, floats, bathing suits, t-shirts and flip flops. Something new for the area is brought to Parker Strip Rentals by John Burns of SUP Kulture. SUP stands for Stand Up Paddleboards and the craze is sweeping the nation. They’ve been used for years in island communities as a means of transportation and now it is well-known for recreation and a healthy work-out. Children to seniors and entire families are participating in organized events to tone up and have fun. Many “Paddles” will be taking place right here on the Strip. John will guide and give instruction and Rich will escort the group on his parasail boat. The Bill Williams River and Aha Khav are also targets for SUP events. What’s in the future for Parker Strip Rentals? Winter plans include quad and Rhino rentals with tours out to the Desert Bar and Swansea.
